CyanogenOS 13.1 Is Rolling Out To Wileyfox Storm

About two months after getting the first official Marshmallow build from Cyanogen in the form of CyanogenOS 13.0, the users of Wileyfox Storm have a reason to rejoice as their devices would be getting updated to CyanogenOS 13.1 shortly. The OTA rollout has begun and you should be getting a notification shortly regarding the same.

Storm's little sister Wileyfox Swift has already got the CyanogenOS 13.1 update. Both Storm and Swift were announce back in August 2015 and packed in CyanogenOS 12.1 (based on Lollipop 5.1.1) at the time of their launch. Wileyfox Swift became the third smartphone after the OnePlus One and the Wileyfox Swift to get the CyanogenOS 13.1 update.

The new CyanogenOS update is all about the exciting feature Mods. Cyanogen describes Mods as "favorite features, right where you expect them". Let's take a look at the various "Mods" CyanogenOS 13.1 has for us:

Bring Twitter To Your Lockscreen

Viewing trending tweets just got a lot simpler. All you need to do is swipe left on the lockscreen. That's what you would call world at the fingertips. Wouldn't you?

You can enable the "Happening On Twitter" mod by simply heading over to the lock screen configurations under the settings menu and then enabling the mod under the "Lock Screen Mods" option.

"Hey Cortana, Take A Selfie!"

Yeah, that's all what you need to tell Cortana. It will take care of the rest. Cortana is also a really very helpful assistant. Cortana is at your beck and call, all you need to do is, wake up your device and use the bottom left lockscreen shortcut. Through Cortana, you can search anything you want to, set reminders, view your day's schedule, navigate your way through roads and traffic and much more.
Please note that the Cortana mod is currently available only in the United States of America.

The All In One Skype & Phone App

The Skype mod integrates Skype into the Phone app. All your Skype contacts are clearly marked and can be searched for. If you want to switch over to a Skype video call, you can do it with just a tap above, as shown in the above image,

Miscellaneous Stuff

The OneNote mod takes down notes for you and the Hyperlapse mod in the camera application allows you to shoot stable videos.

Additionally, a clear all button is present at the bottom right corner of the recents section. By tapping the clear all button, all the applications in the phone's RAM will be wiped away, giving you a faster experience,

The Truecaller integratation in both the phone and messaging app keeps unknown people at bay. Now, you don't need to worry about unknown numbers, Truecaller will take care all of them. You can also launch the camera application by pressing the power button twice.

Live lockscreen glorifies your lock screen. The stock launcher Trebuchet has got a lot of customisations. You can watch our tutorial video below to tweak it's settings as per your liking.

Also aboard CyanogenOS is Privacy Guard, a tool which can be used to combat malicious apps from accessing your private data such as contacts, call logs and messages. At the same time, if Privacy Guard is used in an intelligent way, you can save up on some battery juice too. Are you new to Privacy Guard? Don't worry! We have you covered up here too. Just watch the video below where we guide you through the basics of this great tool.
