Google Nexus Sailfish live photos surfaces

Google will reportedly launch two HTC made Nexus smartphones this year, which are internally called Sailfish and Marlin. We already know how the Nexus and Sailfish looks like, thanks to the leaked mock up renders. Now for the first time, alleged live photo of Sailfish has surfaced online, which comes courtesy of Android Police, and is in line with the leaked mock-up render.

The Sailfish will be the smaller of both the Nexus devices. As seen in the live photos, the Sailfish has a metallic finish, and a fingerprint scanner at the back. Interestingly, the area around the fingerprint scanner and camera (i.e. the upper portion) appears to be made out of glass, while the bottom portion will be only metal.

This year's Nexus phones will also drop the Nexus branding and instead use Google's logo 'G'. The logo is not seen in the live photos since its a prototype, but when the phone enters production the G logo will be present.

According to Android Police, the bigger Nexus Marlin will have the same build and design as well. The website believes this is 100 percent final look of this year's HTC made Nexus phones.

To recap the possible specs, Nexus Sailfish will have a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint scanner and 2770mAh battery. Nexus Marlin has a bigger 5.5-inch QHD display and a larger 3450mAh battery. Rest of the specs are expected to be similar to Sailfish. Both will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat.

As with previous years, Google's 2016 Nexus phones is likely to see the light of the day in September.
