Apple iPhone 7 Plus reportedly packs 3GB RAM

Apple recently introduced the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus featuring water-resistant design, improved battery life, improved performance and enhanced camera. As usual, Apple did not reveal the RAM and battery capacities of the new iPhones. But thanks to a listing on Geekbench, now we know how much RAM iPhone 7 Plus packs.

As per the listing the iPhone 7 Plus has 3GB RAM, making it the first iPhone to pack so much memory. An "iPhone 9,4" was discovered on Geekbench database running Golden Maser version of iOS (iOS 10.0.1) and pack 3GB RAM, which is believed to be the iPhone 7 Plus.

Earlier reports, prior to launch of the new iPhones suggested that iPhone 7 Plus will have 3GB RAM, because of the boasted camera hardware. The phone comes with dual-rear camera setup that allows to handle additional image processing to be carried out when photos are taken like merging multiple photos. As for the iPhone 7, it will still have 2GB RAM, as it features single rear camera, and does not require heavy software process while photos are taken.

The Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are now up for pre-orders in 25 countries and will ship starting September 16. India will have to wait a little longer, as the new iPhones will land in the country on October 7 starting at Rs. 60,000.
