Google Maps get hands free 'Ok Google' commands


Google has added voice command support to its Maps. With the latest addition, now you can directions for your destination hands-free without the need of tapping your phone's screen by simply saying 'Ok Google'' followed by voice commands.

When you say 'Ok Google' the microphone will activate and you will see a circle with bouncing dots which means you voice command is being heard. To cancel ongoing command you can tap the circle.

In order to enable Ok Google voice command you'll have to go to Map app settings then tap on Ok Google detection and enable the while driving options.

In addition to tried-and-true voice commands like “What’s my next turn?” and “What’s my ETA?”, you can also give commands like “Show / Hide traffic”, “Mute / Unmute voice guidance”, and even “Avoid tolls / highways / ferries”, with just the sound of your voice. If you anticipate traffic, you can say “How’s traffic ahead?” or “Show alternate routes”.
