Google's PhotoScan app makes it easier to scan old photos

Google has released a new app called PhotoScan, which lets you scan old printed photos using your smartphone and turn them into high-resolution glare-free digital images.

The standalone app uses your smartphone's camera to create enhanced digital scans of old printed photos. It works by taking multiple images of the photograph from four different angles, then the app stitches them together to to make a single high-resolution digital image.

The app automatically detects edges and straightens the image accordingly and rotates it to correct orientation. It can also remove glare. Once the process is finished you can save the images to Google photos, and edit them as well.

The Google PhotoScan app is available for download in Play Store and Apple App Store.
