Google VR App Is Getting Updated To Support Daydream VR

Google had announced the Daydream View VR headset in an event on October 4, which also included the unveiling of the Pixel devices. Currently only the Pixel devices are compatible with Google's Daydream VR. In order to make the VR headsets compatible with the Pixel devices, Google has now pushed an update weighing 6.76MB to Google VR Services, the framework required for the VR headsets to work with the Pixel smartphones. However to become fully compatible with the VR headsets, the Pixel devices still need another system update. It is expected that this update will be rolled out along with the November security patch. Google is also late with the rollout of the security patch this month.

In case you are too eager to grab the update, you always have the option of installing the update manually via the medium of APKs. The latest version of Google VR Services is now available on APKMirror as well and can be caught hold off by clicking here. To grab hold of the framework from the Play Store, click here.

Many users have also confirmed AndroGuider that the update is not just limited to the Pixel devices, in fact any device running Nougat 7.0 or newer, will be getting this update as well. This is because the Google VR Services framework also  provides support to the applications which support the use of Cardboard. So, in case you own a Nexus 5X/6P/9 or an Android One device and are on Nougat, then you will be getting the update shortly. Users running on Nougat based custom ROMs have also reported about receiving the update notification.

On the October 4 launch event, Google had also announced a game based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for Daydream View. This game is expected to hit the Play Store soon as well because Google has started shipping the VR headsets. You'll also be able to play contents from YouTube, Street View, Play Movies, Google Photos, Hulu and Netflix and view them in Daydream View.
