Sony may announce first mobile games on December 7

Sony announced ForwardWorks studio back in March 2016, with the aim to bring mobile games, based on PlayStation games and characters to smartphones.

Last month, WSJ claimed that Sony plans to release six Playstation inspired games for Android and iOS devices by March 2018. It also mentioned that the mobile will release in Japan first followed by other Asian markets. Furthermore, a report from Nikkei had suggested that the first game titles would be announced before end of 2017.

Now, in line with previous reports, according to Wall Street Journal's technology reporter Takashi Mochizuki, Sony plans to announce its upcoming games and partner companies for its smartphone game project on December 7. He also mentioned that the first games will be initially released in Japan.

The news comes after Nintendo announced that Super Mario Run will be available for iOS devices on December 15. It appears that Sony wants to steal the spotlight before the games release. Apart from Super Mario Run, Nintendo has also released Miitomo, its first smartphone game and the popular Pokemon Go (in collaboration with DeNA) for mobile devices.
