Awaited: Google Assistant Can Finally Read Messages

Back in October when the new AI from Google was exclusive to select Google devices, it was exciting to see what all Assistant had to offer. There's no doubt that Google Assistant is best in its class and is very very intelligent and fun to converse with but then the very fact that it could not read out messages was disappointing. Other virtual assistants like Cortana and Siri have had this functionality since a long time. It was thus expected that Google would implement this functionality in their AI too. The ability to have your text messages read comes in handy when one is driving or is indulged in any other chore.

Now since the announcement that Google Assistant is expanding to more and more devices running Nougat and Marshmallow, people started getting the new AI on there devices through the regular server side update.

One of the Pixel users named Spagdad has reported today on Reddit that the Assistant can finally read out the text messages and shared the screenshot for the same (above). It was kind of a blunder that the much popular AI wasn't able to perform this simple task till now but seems like it should now be able to do so across all the devices running Assistant.
