Google's Wallpapers app updated, gets more wallpapers and two new categories

Google recently updated its Wallpapers app, adding two new categories and around 100 new wallpapers. To refresh you memory, the app was released last year exclusive for Pixel phones built into the Pixel launcher, but later made it available as a standalone app for non-Pixel phones via Play Store.

The new update (version 1.1) along with bug fixes and interface improvements, adds new wallpaper to older categories split into Cityscape, Earth, Landscapes, Life and Textures.

Additionally there are two new categories now: Art and Solid Color wallpapers. As the name suggests, the new Art category includes 50 wallpapers including abstracts and digital art, whereas Solid color offers 26 new simple and plain color wallpapers.

Overall, Google's Wallpapers app now offers nearly 360 wallpapers. The app is compatible with devices running Android 4.1 an above, and gives only the option to set wallpaper. However, on devices running Android 7.0 users get an extra feature that lets them have different wallpapers on home screen and lock screen.
