Moto M starts receiving Android Nougat in India

Motorola released the metal-clad Moto M budget smartphone in India back in December 2016. It packed decent specs and shipped with Android Marshmallow, but Moto India promised update to Nougat.

Now keeping its promise, Motorola has started rolling out Android Nougat to the Moto M. The update with build number XT1663_S356_170621_ROW is 1499MB in size, and is being rolled out currently in India, over-the-air in phases, so it might take some time to reach all the devices. You can manually check for the update in the settings.

The update in addition to native Nougat features like multi-window support, notification enhancements, improved doze mode among others, also adds Duo video calling app to Moto M.

Since this is a major upgrade, make sure your Moto M has atleast 2.5GB of free space, 50 percent battery life and is connected to a WiFi network before beginning the download process.

For a quick recap of the specs, the Moto M features splash proof body, 5.5-inch Full HD display, MediaTek Helio P15 processor, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, USB Type-C port and 3050mAh battery. It is available in two variants ― 3GB RAM/32GB and 4GB RAM/64GB storage priced at Rs. 15,999 and Rs. 17,999 respectively in Gold, Silver and Grey colors.
