Nokia kills 4GB RAM version of Nokia 9, to come with 6GB/8GB RAM

It is already known that Nokia is working on a high-end flagship device dubbed as the Nokia 9. The phone is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, and multiple benchmark listing suggested that it will be offered with 4GB (TA-1004), 6GB (TA-1012) or 8GB RAM.

Now it appears that HMD Global has killed the 4GB variant in favor of 6GB and 8GB RAM versions, as per latest filing with the US' FCC (Federal Communications Commissions).

According to a letter, HMD Global has requested for a change of model number from TA-1004 to TA-1012, indicating the company has cancelled the 4GB RAM variant. This makes sense, since most of the upcoming flagship including OnePlus 5, LG V30, Samsung Galaxy Note8 and Google Pixel 2 are expected to use 6GB RAM instead of 4GB.

The letter also mentions that, there is no change in the construction, design or circuitry of the said model, and the test results of the original Nokia 9 are representative and applicable.

As mentioned earlier, the Nokia 9 is most likely to use Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, and run Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Previous reports have suggested that it will have 5.3-inch or 5.7-inch QHD display, 64GB/128GB storage, dual 13MP cameras (telephoto lens + wide-angle or monochrome lens). 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port and fingerprint scanner.

The Nokia 9 is expected to break cover in Q3 2017, but an exact unveiling date is not known.
