Xiaomi Redmi 4 now available offline in India

Xiaomi has been focusing heavily on the offline market in India to reach consumers directly. Earlier this year the Chinese smartphone maker started selling the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4A in the offline market. Now it has started selling the Redmi 4 through offline retail stores as well.

While the Redmi 4 is being sold online in three variants – 2GB RAM + 16GB storage @ Rs. 6,999, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage @ Rs. 8,999, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage @ Rs. 10,999, Xiaomi will not be selling the 4GB RAM version offline.

Moreover, the 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM variant will be sold at a Rs. 500 premium over their online prices, with the 2GB RAM variant carrying a price tag of Rs. 7,499, and 3GB RAM variant costing Rs. 9,499. The start of Redmi 4 offline sales was first reported by 91Mobiles, and Xiaomi confirmed the report with Gadgets360.

To recap the features, the Redmi 4 boasts metal body, 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 435 processor, 13MP/5MP cameras, 4G w/ VoLTE, dual-SIM slots, fingerprint scanner and 4100mAh battery.

Xiaomi is already dominating the online channels, and with its aggressive offline strategy, it might be able to achieve the same feat. Besides Xiaomi, Motorola is also targeting the offline market, where brands like Samsung, Oppo and vivo are top players. Recently, Motorola  launched the Moto C exclusively for the offline market, and the Moto Z2 Play was also made available offline. Nokia is also selling two of its smartphones, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 offline as well.

Moreover, Coolpad is also looking to enter the offline market between July and August. With so many new players, the battle to take the top spot in offline market has just begun.
