[UPDATE: Rollout Begins This Week] Confirmed: Nokia 3 Will Be Updated To Nougat 7.1.1 By August End

Juho Sarvikas has tweeted that the Nougat 7.1.1 update for the Nokia 3 has been "approved" and will "start this week," that is over the weekend.

HMD Global's chief product officer Juho Sarvikas has confirmed that the Nokia 3 will be updated to Android 7.1.1 by the end of August. The Nokia 3 is amongst the three smartphones launched recently by HMD under the Nokia branding. The smartphone trio was launched in India a few months back.

The Nokia 3 was earlier launched in February this year and is powered by Nougat 7.0 out of the box. Nokia has already committed to updating its Android devices with monthly security patches. So far Nokia has kept to its word and Nokia 6 was the first device to receive the July security patch this month, ahead of the Pixel and Nexus devices.

The trio of Nokia 3, 5 and 6 are assured of an Android O update. HMD's flagship device - the Nokia 8 - is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks. A render of the Nokia 8 was leaked recently.
