LG V30 may ditch the secondary screen for OLED screen

LG's V line up (V20 and V30) has many innovative features, but the one that stands up is the small secondary "ticker" display located just above the main screen that gives you access to notifications, quick tools, apps and more. HTC also introduced the secondary screen in its U Ultra flagship, , but was ditched in its latest U 11. However, now it appears that LG will also ditch the secondary display on its upcoming flagship V30.

According to a report from XDA, LG will ditch the secondary screen on the its next flagship the V30. In line with previous report, it also says that V30 will have an OLED panel, which is not surprising given the fact that, LG has been investing a lot on OLED panel due to increasing demands. Previously LG was using LCD display on its flagship.

OLED displays offer more vivid colors than LCD, and while Samsung already adopts to AMOLED panel, Apple is also said to be bringing this display technology to iPhone. With the secondary screen being ditched, and the use of OLED panel, it is likely that V30 will get FullVision bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio, same as LG G6. A recent report coming out from South Korea also suggested the same.

According to XDA's source, the LG V30 will feature Snapdragon 835 chip, 4GB RAM, and there will be a variant with 64GB storage, and will have microSD card slot for storage expansion.

Other expected features are 32GB/128GB storage, dual-cameras setup (front and back), glass panel at the back, fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, IP68 rating, for water and dust resistance, new ESS quad DAC, 3.5mm audio jack and non-removable 3300mAh battery. The V30 is already confirmed to support Google's Daydream VR platform out of the box.

The LG V30 is rumored to be unveiled at IFA 2017, and carry a price tag of 800,000 KRW, which equals around $700 or Rs. 45,000.
