Samsung quitely outs the Gear Fit2 Pro (Update: Now official)
Update: Samsung has announced the Gear Fit2 Pro at its IFA 2017 event. It has been priced at $199 (Rs. 13,000), and will be available starting September 15.
Ahead of the Galaxy Note8 announcement, Samsung has silently introduced its latest fitness wearable, the Gear Fit 2 Pro by listing it on the official website in Spain and Malaysia.
The Gear Fit 2 Pro is an upgraded version of last year's Gear Fit 2 fitness tracker, and includes 5ATM water resistance, which means it can survive water pressures of up to depths of 50m or around 164 feet in water, making it perfect for swimming. There's also a Speedo app to track and record swimming sessions. The wearable also has a new and improved buckle strap for a more secure fit during swimming or vigorous work out conditions.
Besides these upgrades, the Gear Fit2 Pro is same as Gear Fit 2. It features a 1.5-inch curved AMOLED display with 216 x 432 pixels resolution, and is capable of automatically track daily activities like steps taken, distance traveled, heart-rate monitor, calories burned and sleep monitoring.
The core specs include 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and GLONASS. It runs home-grown Tizen OS and packs 300mAh battery, that's rated to deliver up to four days of regular usage, and up to nine hours of usage with GPS on. The Galaxy App store gives access to over 3,000 apps including Spotify. Color options include Black and Red.
While Samsung has not revealed the price of Gear Fit2 Pro, according to reports it will be priced $199.
