Google Lens arrives on first gen Pixel phones through Photos app
Google Lens was introduced back in May at Google's I/O, and made its official debut with the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones. Now, it seems like Google Lens is being rolled out to 2016's Pixel and Pixel XL through Google Photos app.
This feature was first spotted by a reddit users on his Pixel XL. The Lens appeared on photos app without any Play Store update, which means this is likely a server-side update. Also the intro page of Lens on the Pixel phones say " Pixel Preview", and it's worth noting that this is only the Photo app version of Lens. The Assistant version is yet to be included.
To use Google Lens feature, simply point your Pixel camera at a subject to get information and show results based on that. You can scan a flower to get more information about it, or identify a landmark, restaurant, movies, book and see their ratings, reviews and other details. You can even copy text like phone numbers, date and addresses.
If Google Lens is available on your Pixel and Pixel XL phones, the Info icons in your pictures will be replaced by Lens icon.
