'Hey Google' hotword now available on more Android phones

For years we have been communicating with the Google Search or Assistant app using the voice Command "Ok Google". But when Google Home was announced, the search giant introduced a new phrase called "Hey Google" to interact with the speaker, in addition to the old phrase.

Back in October, Google started testing the new "Hey Google" hotword on a handful of Android smartphones. And now the hotword is getting a wider release, and is out on a number of Android smartphone.

A notification asking users to re-setup Google Voice is appearing on many devices such as Moto G5S/G5S Plus, Nexus 5X, OnePlus 5/5T to name a few. Tapping on the notifications starts the voice training process.

In case you have missed the notification, you can setup your voice by heading to Settings > Google > Search > Voice. And once the setup process is complete, you can use either "OK Google" or "Hey Google" to open Google Search and Assistant. Just like the old phrase, Hey Google also works when the screen is off on some devices.
