Android Pie is here for the Xperia XZ Premium, the Xperia XZ1 and the Xperia XZ Compact


We are seeing Android Pie updates roll out to more and more devices, and next up are the Xperia XZ Premium, the XZ1 and the XZ Compact. The Android 9 update for the two smartphones was scheduled to go live on October 26, but because of some bugs, Sony held back the update. The roll out is now happening.

In addition to the Pie goodies, there are improvements to camera app including 1080p super slow-mo videos. The security patches for October are also included, underlying the fact that the update was originally intended for the last month.

The Xperia XZ Premium, the XZ Compact and the XZ1 join the list of devices that Sony has updated to Pie. The list akso comprises of the Xperia XZ2 and the XZ2 Compact which were updated in October. Sony's XZ3, which was announced at IFA, comes with Android Pie out of the box.

Next, Sony will be updating the XZ2 Premium to Pie. The roll out was slated for November 7 but seemingly will be rolled out later this month. The Xperia XA2 lineup is scheduled to get Pie in March 2019.
