Xiaomi slashes the price of the Mi A2 (yet again) by up to Rs 3,000

The Mi A2 is arguably one of the best camera smartphones under Rs 20,000. The device was launched in two variants with a price tag of Rs 16,999 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model and Rs 19,999 for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model. Xiaomi slashed the prices of both the models by Rs 1,000 in November, and now the Mi A2 has received another price cut.

The cost of the 4GB RAM variant has been reduced by Rs 2,000 and the higher variant has seen its price go down by Rs 3,000. Following the price drops, the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage model of the Mi A2 will retail for Rs 13,999 and the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model will now cost Rs 15,999.

The Mi A2 is now priced just as the Redmi Note 6 Pro and Rs 1,000 more than the Redmi Note 5 Pro. With three different smartphones within a price gap of Rs 1,000, Xiaomi has made it tough for consumers to pick a phone. Aside from Xiaomi's phones, there is Asus' Zenfone Max Pro M2. So, which phone should you go for? The Redmi Note 6 Pro offers more features than the Note 5 Pro at a slightly higher price so you can rule out the Note 5 Pro. The Mi A2 and the Max Pro M2 sport the Snapdragon 660 which is a powerful chipset than the Snapdragon 636 in the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The Mi A2 has better cameras than the Max Pro M2 but then it lacks the headphone jack and support for storage expansion, both of which are present on the Max Pro M2. The Max Pro M2 also has a higher capacity 5000mAh battery in comparison to the Mi A2's 3010mAh cell.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Max Pro M2 are neck to neck in camera performance. So, if cameras are your top priority, you should go for the Mi A2, and if you want a good overall phone, the Zenfone Max Pro M2 should be your choice. The new prices of the Mi A2 are effective immediately. You can get the Mi A2 from Amazon, mi.com, Mi Home Stores and Xiaomi's retail offline partners.
