A Striking New Look in Burgundy
Apple is shaking up the Pro aesthetic this year. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup ditches last year's muted titanium tones for a rich, deep burgundy finish that is already being called the hero color of 2026. It's joined by black, white, and a soft graphite gray.
Beyond color, the design itself has evolved. Apple has moved to a seamless forged aluminum unibody with a glass backplate fused directly into the frame, making the phone lighter, stronger, and better at dissipating heat. The camera plateau now stretches edge-to-edge across the back, housing the larger sensors while giving the phone a more balanced, symmetrical look.
Ceramic Shield 2 protects both front and back, which Apple says offers 3x better scratch resistance.
The Camera System Steals the Show
Cameras are the biggest story on the iPhone 18 Pro. All three rear lenses are now 48MP Fusion sensors, delivering far more detail and flexibility for pro shooters and casual users alike.
The 48MP main wide camera debuts a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/2.8, a first for iPhone. It lets in dramatically more light for night shots and creates true optical background blur for portraits without relying on software. Apple has also increased the sensor size, improving dynamic range and reducing noise.
The telephoto gets its most significant upgrade in years. The new 48MP tetraprism lens offers continuous optical zoom from 4x to 8x, up from 5x on the iPhone 17 Pro, with improved sensor-shift stabilization. For creators, Apple has added native 8K video recording at 30fps with Dolby Vision, plus new ProRes RAW support directly on-device.
Up front, the 24MP Center Stage TrueDepth camera with a wider field of view automatically keeps you centered on video calls and allows for high-resolution landscape selfies without rotating the phone.
Performance Leap with A20 Pro
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro is powered by the A20 Pro, Apple's first chip built on TSMC's 2nm process. Apple claims 25% faster CPU performance and 40% faster GPU performance while using 30% less power than the A19 Pro.
Paired with 12GB of RAM as standard, the new chip is built for Apple Intelligence. On-device Siri is now faster and fully conversational, Live Translation works across FaceTime and Messages, and new generative photo and video editing tools run instantly without the cloud. A vapor chamber cooling system, also a Pro first, keeps performance sustained for gaming and 8K editing.
Apple is also debuting its second-gen C2 modem and N2 wireless chip, bringing faster 5G, Wi-Fi 8 support, and significantly improved battery efficiency.
Display, Battery and iOS 28
The 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9-inch iPhone 18 Pro Max both feature ProMotion OLED displays with 120Hz refresh rates and a new anti-reflective coating that cuts glare by 50% and boosts peak outdoor brightness to 3,500 nits.
Battery life takes a major jump thanks to the efficient A20 Pro chip and stacked battery design. Apple promises up to 33 hours of video playback on the Pro Max, the longest ever on iPhone, with 50% charge in just 15 minutes via 45W wired charging and next-gen 25W MagSafe Qi2 wireless charging.
Both phones ship with iOS 28, featuring a Liquid Glass redesign, a smarter Lock Screen, and deeper Apple Intelligence integration across Photos, Safari, and Messages.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,099 for 256GB, with 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB options available. The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,199 for 256GB.
