Raspberry Pi 2 With 1GB RAM, Quad-core CPU Launched, Costs $35

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has launched the second generation of its popular lower-powered Humble Pi-board - The Raspberry Pi 2. It is an upgrade form the Model B+ which was launched back in July 2014.

The Raspberry Pi board is known for its credit card sized form factor with amazing functionality at a cheaper price. The ARM GNU/Linux computer board is used for educational purposes and also used in building robots, musical instruments and many others.

The Raspberry Pi 2 is a turbo-charged upgrade comes with second generation hardware in memory and CPU that's 6 time fast.

The Raspberry Pi 2 features 1GB RAM and Broadcom BCM2837 processor which has four ARM Cortex-A700 processor and is clocked at an 800MHz clock speed, but can be overclocked to run 900MHz. Other features inlcude 250MHz Broadcom VideoCore IV GP, single HDMI 1.4 output, 3.5mm composite video and stereo audio output, four USB 2.0 ports, microSD slot, 10/100 Ethernet port, Micro-USB power port, and 40-pin IO layout.

The Raspberry Pi 2 will be able to run a version of Windows 10. The announcement was made by Microsoft on its blog. The move ties in with Microsoft's Windows Developer Program for Internet of things which aims to bring Windows platform to ultra-low powered devices.

The Raspberry Pi 2 will be priced at an affordable $35 (Rs. 2000). 100,000 units will be going on sale via Elemnt 14, RS Components and other retail partners and is now available for purchase.
