LG announces global roll out of its customisable AKA smartphones

The LG AKA line of smartphones was launched in South Korea last year in November. At first it was only available in South Korean market and later it was reported that the device will go on sale outside the country.

Now, LG has confirmed the the AKA line of smartphones will roll out to overseas market starting with Hong Kong next week, followed by China, Singapore and Turkey. Additional markets availability will be announced as they are confirmed. The company has not yet revealed any pricing details of the AKA smartphones.

In addition, Earlier this month a report from Focus Taiwan claimed that the LG AKA smartphone will be available to buy in Taiwan starting March 23 and comes with a price tag of Rs. NTD 9,900 (Rs. 19,700).

The LG AKA line of smartphones are targeted at young customers. The main highlight of the handset is that it comes with Mood cover cases. There are four different mood cases namely Eggy (Yellow), Wookie (White), Soul (Blue) and YoYo (Pink).

The mood case is opened from top allowing users to see the display where it shows animated eyes and provides notification details and battery status information to the user.

In addition to each AKA’s interactive, animated eyes, owners can customize their phones with stickers (provided), markers or paint, for a true DIY experience.

LG has also tweaked the AKA lineup by adding an emotional UX element which includes customizable glasses and eyebrows for each pair of eyes. Another unique UX feature include Art Toy figurine, which can be digitized and integrated into the phone's user experience.

LG AKA also comes with preloaded Snapshoot tool that creates an animated 3D version of the clicked selfie. Other camera feature include Laser Auto Focus, Touch & Shoot and Ges-ture Shot.
