Meizu Pro 5 with 5.7-inch display, USB Type-C gets official

Chinese mobile brand Meizu, unveiled its latest flagship device, the Pro 5 at an event in Beijing, China. With the specs it has to offer, Pro 5 aims to be the top of the line flagship for the Chinese brand. The phone sports a full metal unibody design and runs Flyme 5.0 that is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. 

The smartphone has a touch-sensitive mBack home button that triggers different functions based on press. It also has a mTouch 2.1 fingerprint recognition technology and promises Hi-Fi audio output thanks to the ES9018 signal processor and OPA1612 amplifier.

Meizu Pro 5 features 5.7-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Inside there is an 2.5 GHz octa-core (Quad 2.1GHz + Quad 1.5GHz) Samsung Exynos 7420 processor with Mali T760 GPU.

It comes in two variants - 3GB RAM w/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM w/ 64GB storage. It comes with hybrid dual SIM slot, where the second SIM slot doubles up as microSD card slot.

For imaging there is 21.6-megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash, Laser Auto Focus, PDAF, Sony IMX230 Exmor RS BSI sensor, 6P lenses, f/2.2 aperture and can record 4K videos. On the front there is 5-megapixel selfie camera with OV5670 sensor and f/2.0 aperture.

On the connectivity front, there is support for 4G LTE (TD-LTE / LTE-FDD), 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 ac/b/g/n (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 USB Type-C port and GPS. It is fueled by 3050mAH battery, and comes with mCharge 2.0 tech, which charges the battery up to 65 percent in just 30 minutes.

Meizu's Pro 5 comes in Gray, Silver, Silver Black and Golden color. The 3G RAM w/ 32GB storage model is prided at 2799 Yuan ($440 | Rs. 29,000) and the 4GB RAM w/ 64GB model costs 3099 Yuan ($485 | Rs. 32,000). It is now available for order and will go on sale starting from October 12. 

The India launch of Meizu Pro 5 is expected by the end of this year, but certification and other issues may delay it till early next year, said Meizu.
