Microsoft Lumia 650 release delayed until mid-Februray

Microsoft's Lumia 650 announcement has been delayed until mid-February. Recently Windows Central reported that Microsoft will announce the Lumia 650 via its official blog on February 1. However, that's not the case anymore as the same publication now claims that the announcement has been pushed back until some time in mid-February. The actual date is yet to be revealed. The reason for the delay is due to last minute software/firmware issues.

The Lumia 650 is said to sport a slim design and metal frame. The report mentions that Microsoft has used laser cutting for the metal edge, the result being that the Lumia 650 is going to be matte on the sides but shinier on the edges.

The Windows 10 Mobile based Lumia 650 is expected to be marketed as affordable business phone. The rumored specs include 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 210 / 212 SoC, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage with microSD expansion, 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper. It will be fueled by 2000mAh battery, and might support wireless charging. Color options include Matte White or Matte Black. The Lumia 650 is expected to be priced around $200 or Rs. 12,000.

It has also been reported that the Lumia 650 will be the last Lumia device to be released this year, as Microsoft is planning to drop the Nokia brand name and start making devices under Surface name. It is not yet known whether the Lumia 650 is the last Lumia forever, or Microsoft plans to release new Lumia devices in 2017.
