Microsoft at E3 2016, announced the Xbox One S which is an upgraded model of Xbox One. In addition, the company unveiled a more powerful version of Xbox One code-named Project Scorpio. Xbox Chief Phil Spencer says that Microsoft views Project Scorpio as much more than a simple refresh.

Project Scorpio will be capable of running 4K-native games, support virtual reality and  have an octa-core processor, up to 320GB/s memory bandwidth and up to 6 TeraFLOPS of graphics processing power. For reference, the current-generation Xbox One offers 1.23 teraflops.

It will be part of Xbox One family and support all games and accessories developed for the Xbox One and One S. As for virtual reality, Microsoft didn't reveal whether it's working on its own headset or going to partner other company, however, earlier reports claimed that Microsoft was working with Oculus to bring VR to its home console.

No specific release date has been mentioned, but Project Scorpio is expected to arrive late 2017.
