Moto G5 Plus arriving in India on March 15


At the ongoing MWC event in Barcelona, Motorola (owned by Lenovo) introduced the latest Moto G line up in the form of Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. Both are mid-rangers offering with premium design and decent specs and an affordable price tag.

The company has already announced that the Moto G5 will be available in Europe and Latin America in March, while U.S will get only the Moto G5 Plus. As far as India is concerned, Moto India has sent out press invites for an event taking place on March to launch the Moto G5 Plus in the country. There is no mention of Moto G5, but it can be expected to land in India in April. Even last year, with Moto G4, Motorola first started selling the Plus variant followed by the standard version.

For those uninitiated, the Moto G5 family sheds the plastic body, and gets a new metal body, giving it a premium look. The Moto G5 Plus runs Android Nougat with Pixel-like user interface, and the fingerprint sensor in embedded into the home button. Interestingly, this time the home button not only locks or unlocks the device, but also can perform various gestures.

As for the specs, the Moto G5 Plus features 5.2-inch Full HD Gorilla Glass 3 display, Snapdragon 625 processor, 12MP Sony IMX362 Dual-Pixel auto-focus camera (same as Galaxy S7 edge) w/ 4K video recording, 5MP front camera, 4G LTE, 3000mAh battery and Turbo charging. It gets separate slots for dual-SIMs and microSD card, and a water-repellent nano coated body to survive splashes.

The Moto G5 Plus comes in three variants — 2GB RAM/32GB storage, 3GB RAM/32GB storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage. It's unknown which variant India is getting.

In case you are interested to no the specs of Moto G5, it comes with 5-inch Full HD Gorilla Glass 3 display, Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB storage, 13MP/5MP cameras, fingerprint scanner and 2800mAh battery.

The Moto G5 Plus comes in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold color, and can be expected to go on sale on the same day. The pricing could be below the Rs. 15,000 mark.
