Sony Xperia Touch projector can turn any surface into a touchscreen

Sony at MWC unveiled four new Xperia X series phones boasting impressive design and superior cameras. The company also announced Xperia Touch, an Android Projector with multi-touch support that turns any flat surface into a 23-inch HD touchscreen. The device is capable of beaming images vertically or horizontally.

The Sony Xperia Touch is built using the company's SXRD projection display technology, and the touch on the virtual image was made possible through a combination of Infrared light and real-time detection via its built-in camera, at a rate of 60 frames-per-second.

The home screen is designed to work in dark conditions, and provides real-time weather information, a memo board for doodles or video notes, calendar access and Skype video chat. It can also run any apps and games downloaded from Google Play Store as well. Thanks to the proximity sensors, the Xperia Touch will automatically turn on when it senses the user approaching.
