Xiaomi Mi Max 2 gets official with 6.44-inch display and 5300mAh battery.

Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps of its giant phablet, the Mi Max 2 in home country of China. It is the successor of last year's Mi Max, and gets some decent upgrades. It features a full metal unibody design with hidden antenna bands, located at the top and bottom edges of the rear panel. There's also a fingerprint scanner at the back, and the phablet runs Android Nougat based MIUI 8.

In terms of specifications, the Mi Max 2 sports a large 6.44-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by Snapdragon 625 chip with 4GB RAM. It will be offered in two storage versions – 64GB and 128GB – both expandable via microSD card.

The camera department includes a 12MP Sony IMX386 f/2.2 rear camera with PDAF and LED flash, while the front facing camera for snapping selfies is a 5MP unit with 85-degree wide angle lens. It's worth mentioning that the rear image sensor is the same found on Xiaomi's flagship Mi 6. 

In terms of connectivity, it supports dual-SIMs, 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Infrared and USB Type-C port. 

A 5300mAh battery runs the show, which promises up to 18 hours of video playback or up to 10 hours of music playback or up to 57 hours of talk time. It also supports Quick Charge 3.0, and Xiaomi claims, the battery will be charged up to 68 percent in an hour. It also has dual charging module that offers better heat dispersion, and dual-stereo speakers, which automatically activates when the phone is in landscape mode.

The Mi Max 2 64GB variant has been priced at CNY 1699 ($247 | Rs. 16,000), and the 128GB version costs CNY 1999 ($291 | Rs. 19,000). It will go on sale in China starting June 1 in a single Gold color.
