OnePlus Releases Kernel Source Code & Device Tree For OP 5

OnePlus released its new flagship, the OnePlus 5, just a few days back. OnePlus is known to encourage community based Android development and it's beta program also encourages community participation. Through the means of community participation, OnePlus incorporates user feedback to improve OxygenOS.

The kernel source code contains commits for Dash charging. So if you decide to move over from OxygenOS to another ROM on your OnePlus 5, you will still be able to make use of the fast charging speeds courtesy of Dash charge. Custom kernels are also expected to include support for Dash charging, so if you decide to flash a custom kernel, your OnePlus 5 will make use of the Dash charging technology when you plug it in.

The kernel source code comes in handy for developers who want to build custom ROMs, kernels and recoveries for a device. Nougat based custom ROMs should be popping out soon for the OnePlus 5. Keep a check on the XDA and OnePlus forums of OP 5 for all the custom ROMs, kernels and recoveries.

If you are a developer, you can check out the kernel source code and device tree of OnePlus 5 linked below.
