Android Wear is getting Android Oreo

Over two months after releasing the Android Oreo based Android Wear beta, Google has finally started rolling out the official Oreo update to supported Android Wear wearables.

The announcement was made by Hoi Lam, Wearable Developer Advocate at Google. Lam said the update is being released today and the timing of the update is determined by each Android Wear smartwatch's manufacturer. According to Android Police, the LG Watch Sport is already receiving the update.

Even though this is an OS upgrade, it doesn't bring any major changes and includes a handful of new features. These are customizable vibration patterns for notifications, Touch Lock feature to prevent touch screen inputs, Support for seven additional countries/languages, more notification channels and new background limits for improved battery life.
