Substratum Public Release 990 Brings Sungstromeda Mode Which Allows Samsung Oreo Users To Change Overlays Without PC

Up until now, Samsung Oreo users had to use Substratum alongside Andromeda to change overlay states. This meant that theming on-the-fly wasn't possible since a PC was required. The Substratum team has now released v990 of the theme engine which allows Samsung devices running Oreo to change overlays without the need of a PC.

Termed as 'Sungstromeda', the mode allows for untethered installation and uninstallation of overlays. After overlay states are changed, a reboot is required to implement the changes. Sungstromeda is disabled by default and can be switched on from the settings.

In addition to Sungstromeda, Substratum v990 includes various fixes for Samsung users. Here's the list of changes:

Changelog

Resources: Remove Substratum overlay from Samsung permission blacklist
Deleted Samsung Software Update from blacklist
Overlays: Allow users to see just the updateable overlays
SungstromedaIntegration: Add the proper mode in certification
SungstromedaMode: Integrate Sungstratum mode with Andromeda

Substratum v990 should be available as an update on the Play Store. If the Play Store update hasn't shown up for you yet, you can manually update by installing the v990 APK from here.
