Xperia XZ2 Passes JerryRigEverything's Torture Tests Without Breaking A Sweat

When it comes to building durable smartphones, Sony isn't a name that strikes the head. Zack Nilson, who runs the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, is known for putting flagship smartphones through his array of durability tests which include scratching, burning and bending. Sony's Xperia XZ2 is the latest entrant to JerryRigEverything's torture chamber.

The front and back of the XZ2 are made of Gorilla Glass 5, and hence they scratch at a level six. The front-facing camera and Sony branding at the bottom are tucked under the glass and the rear camera along with the flash are also covered by glass. Because coins and keys are softer materials than glass, they won't leave any scuffs on the front or back of the phone.

Nilson says that the earpiece is solidly attached to the phone and it won't come out easily. The sides of the phone, along with the power key, volume rockers, and camera button are made of aluminum.

During the burn test, the Xperia XZ's 5.7-inch IPS LCD display lasted thirteen seconds before the pixels turned black. Once the flame was removed, the pixels did recover. In the bend test, the XZ2 didn't flex a bit when it was bent from either the front or back.
