Android P Developer Preview 4 Released For Pixel Smartphones

Google has released the fourth Android P developer preview. Also known as Beta 3, this beta release of Android P is available for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The OTA roll out is yet to commence, but factory and OTA images are available for those who wish to install DP4 right away.

The OTA images can only be used to upgrade from DP3. If you are coming off the stock ROM or a custom ROM, you will have to flash the factory images. The installation of both the OTA and factory images requires an unlocked bootloader. The download links for both the images can be found in the source.

If you are willing to wait, you can avoid the hassle of unlocking the bootloader. The DP4 will shortly start rolling out to those enrolled in the Android Beta program. You can sign up your Pixel for the program by clicking here.

DP4 was supposed to be released towards the end of June. The delay is only of a couple of days, so the final release should still be on time. The stable release of Android P is expected in August, and there is another developer preview to be released prior to that. We can expect DP5 to be released either at the end of this month or early next month.
