Android Pie beta is now available for the Nokia 8

Android Pie has been hitting more phones day by day. The latest to join the Pie club is the Nokia 8. The stable Pie update for the smartphone will take a while but you can grab a slice of Pie by trying out the Android 9 beta which has been released for the smartphone.

How to get Pie on my Nokia 8, you may ask. The process is simple. You have to head over to Nokia Phones Beta Labs, sign up your Nokia 8 by entering its IMEI number, and you will soon receive an OTA update of the Pie beta. The beta users will get the stable update when it rolls out.

HMD Global has been at the centre of controversy for not updating its yesteryear flagship, the Nokia 8, to Pie. It was said that HMD was holding off the Pie update for the Nokia 8 until after the launch of the Nokia 8.1. According to the rumour, HMD didn't want the Pie update for the Nokia 8 to take away attention from the Nokia 8.1.

The rumour caught on and Nokia fans started taking jibes at HMD. This forced HMD's Juho Sarvikas to come out on Twitter and react to the rumours. "We have been burning the midnight oil to get your Nokia 8 on Android Pie. Unfortunately, we still have few issues to address and need a couple of more days to make it perfect. Thank you for your patience," the Chief Product Officer wrote.

The "immediate" beta Pie update for the Nokia 8 is HMD's way of putting water on the fire caused by the rumour. The stable version of Pie should be out for the Nokia 8 before the end of the year.
