Amazon’s Bee Unveils $75 AI Wearable and Phone Recorder With Alexa Integration

TL;DR
- Amazon-owned Bee has launched two new AI devices starting at $74.99: an upgraded $129.99 Bee Pioneer wearable and a new $74.99 Bee Tap credit-card-sized recorder that sticks to the back of smartphones.
- Both devices record and summarize conversations, generate to-do lists and daily briefs, and sync with the Bee app for searchable memories, with deeper integration into Alexa and Amazon shopping coming soon.
- The launch marks Bee's first hardware release since Amazon acquired the startup in July 2025, signaling Amazon's push into always-on personal AI memory assistants.
Bee's First Devices Under Amazon Are Here
Amazon's AI wearable bet is getting real. Bee, the personal AI startup Amazon acquired in July 2025, has unveiled its first new hardware since joining Amazon: a refreshed wearable and a brand-new phone companion designed to remember everything you hear.
The lineup includes the second-generation Bee Pioneer, an upgraded version of Bee's $49.99 wristband-style wearable, now priced at $129.99, and the all-new Bee Tap, a thin, credit-card-sized recorder that magnetically attaches to the back of a smartphone for $74.99. Both are available for preorder now.
What’s New With the Pioneer
The new Bee Pioneer builds on the original Bee device that put the startup on the map. Worn on the wrist or clipped to clothing, it continuously listens throughout the day — with the press of a mute button to pause — and uses AI to turn conversations into summaries, action items, and searchable memories.
Amazon says the second-gen model brings better microphones for noisy environments, longer battery life of up to 7 days on standby, and improved on-device processing. It pairs with the Bee app on iOS and Android, where users get a timeline of their day, meeting notes, reminders, and a conversational assistant that can answer questions like “What did I agree to do on Tuesday?”
Meet Bee Tap: AI Memory for Your Phone
The breakout star is Bee Tap. About the size and thickness of a credit card, the minimalist recorder snaps magnetically to iPhones and Android phones or slips into a wallet. Tap it to start recording, tap again to stop.
Bee says Tap is designed for people who don’t want another wrist wearable. It’s ideal for meetings, classes, coffee chats, and phone calls on speaker, automatically transcribing and summarizing everything into the Bee app. At $74.99, it significantly undercuts rivals like Plaud’s NotePin and Limitless Pendant.
Privacy is a core pitch. Bee says recordings are encrypted, users can delete memories anytime, and the devices light up to indicate recording. The company also stresses that users must follow local consent laws for recording conversations.
Alexa and Amazon Integration
As an Amazon company, deeper ecosystem ties are central to the pitch. Bee already works with Alexa for voice recaps and reminders, and Amazon says shopping integration is next.
In the coming months, Bee will be able to create Amazon shopping lists automatically from conversations — for example, adding ingredients you discussed for dinner — and surface reminders via Echo speakers and Alexa. A full Alexa+ integration is also on the roadmap, letting users ask Alexa about past conversations captured by Bee.
Pricing, Availability, and Subscription
Bee Tap starts at $74.99 and Bee Pioneer (2nd Gen) starts at $129.99. Both include a free trial of Bee’s premium memory features, which include unlimited history, advanced summaries, and integrations. After that, Bee plans a $9.99 per month or $99 per year subscription, though early buyers get extended free access.
The devices ship in late November 2026 in the U.S., just in time for the holidays. Amazon will sell them on Amazon.com as well as through Bee’s website.
Why This Matters for Amazon
The launch is Amazon’s clearest move yet to own the “personal memory” category. While Humane’s Ai Pin flopped and Rabbit struggled, Bee’s low price, simple design, and focus on utility over replacing the phone have earned it a cult following.
For Amazon, Bee fills a gap between Echo smart speakers, Astro robots, and Alexa on phones — an always-present AI that remembers your life and connects it to shopping, reminders, and productivity. If Bee Tap catches on at $75, Amazon could finally have a hit wearable beyond Echo Buds and Frames.
