HP Unveils Android-Powered Pro Slate 8 And 12 Tablets
HP launched new tablets in the Pro Slate range of tablets, Pro Slate 8 and Pro Slate 12. These are aimed at businesses "to mobilize the workforce," and education markets. Both tablets are equipped with data protection powered by a suite of HP's own software system.
The HP Pro Slate 8 and Pro Slate 12 apart from the screen size and battery backup, both tablet feature the same specs. The Pro Slate 8 sports 7.9-inch FHD QXGA display with 324 ppi and backed by 21WHr Li-ion polymer battery. while the Pro Slate 12 features 12.3-inch UXGA display with 163ppi and is backed by 32WHr Li-ion polymer battery.
Both tablets are powered by 2.3GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage [microSD card support]. The Pro Slate 8 will be available in 16GB as well. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat.
Camera features include an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity features include USB 2.0, Mircast, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and NFC.
A new accessory dubbed HP Duet Pen will be included in Pro Slate 8 and Pro Slate 12. The Duet Pen is said to be the first to use QUalcomm Snapdragon digital Pen technology. It works both on-screen and digitises straight to screen when writing on tablet or a paper which HP calls Paper Folio.
The Pro Slate 8 16GB variant will be priced at $449 and the 32GB variant will cost $469. The HP Pro Slate 12 32GB only mode will be priced at $569. The tablets are now on sale in the US. There is no details on global availability of the tablet.
