Acer brings Chrome OS to all-in-one touchscreen desktop PC


Taiwanese computer maker Acer announced its first all in one Chrome OS desktop PC called Chromebase.

The Acer Chromebase features 21.5-inch (1920x1080 pixels) IPS touchscreen display with 178 degree viewing angles and support for 10-point multi-touch input.

The all-in-one desktop PC is powered by NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor that delivers a responsive and rich multi-tasking experience and boots up in ten seconds. Acer did not reveal details of the RAM and the storage capacity of the Chromebase.

Other features include HD Webcam on front 3W speakers, HDMI, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0. 

Acer's all-in-one Chromebook will be available in North American and Asia-Pacific market in Q2 at an affordable price. However no specific date or price were revealed.

Acer launched its first Chromebook in 2011, followed by Chromebox desktop in August last year. The company is the world's leading Chromebook brand with 36 percent share of the market last year according to IT research firm Gartner Inc.
