Windows 10 to roll out in waves from July 29, first to 5 million Windows Insiders


Microsoft will roll out Windows 10 on July 29. However the company revealed some new details about the Windows 10 roll out. The upgrade will rolling out in phases.

"We want to make sure all of you have a great upgrade experience, so we'll roll out Windows 10 in phases to help manage the demand,"

Microsoft on its blog also revealed that even if you are reserved for the Windows 10 upgrade, you might not get it on the launch date. The upgrade will be first rolled out to users of Windows Insider programme and will start notifying the reserved systems in waves.

"Starting on July 29, we will start rolling out Windows 10 to our Windows Insiders. From there, we will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after July 29th. Each day of the roll-out, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users."

Windows 10 will roll out to 5 million Windows Insiders, who have been testing Windows 10 in advance and giving feed backs. Users who have reserved their copy of Windows 10, will be notified once the compatibility is checked of their PC and Windows 10 has been downloaded. In case, the system is not ready for the Windows 10 upgrade, Microsoft will provide details to the user about upgrade incompatibilities.

"In some cases, we will include contact information so you can follow up directly with an application provider or device manufacturer to learn more. For most upgrade incompatibilities, you may still choose to complete the upgrade, and find alternative compatible solutions in the Windows Store after you upgrade."

Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 home versions will be available to download on July 29 for users who reserved a copy alongside members of Windows Insiders program. Volume licensing customers will be able to download Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education starting August 1.

Microsoft will give build of Windows 10 to OEM partners so they can start imaging new devices with Windows 10. Soon after, Microsoft will distribute Windows 10 build to retailers all over the world so they can assist costumers with upgrades of for their Windows 8.1 machine. The company advises users to check for stickers for assurance that OEM partners have tested the device with Windows 10. The sticker looks like this-
