Xiaomi Redmi 2 gets Rs. 1000 price cut, now available for Rs. 5,999
Last month Xiaomi reduced the price of Redmi Note 4G from Rs. 9,999 to Rs,. 7,999. Now Xiaomi has announced price cut for its 4G LTE enabled affordable smartphone Redmi 2, making it more affordable.
Mi India announced Rs. 1,000 price cut for the Redmi 2. The handset is now available for Rs. 5,999, down from launch price Rs. 6,999. "Lower costs have enabled us to reduce the price of Redmi 2, and this translates into savings that Mi fans can enjoy." said Xiaomi announcing the price cut.
The new pricing, undecuts a lot of phones available in the budget market segment with 4G, like Yu Yuphoria, Moto E 4G (2015) and Lenovo A6000 Plus which are available for Rs. 6,999, 7,999 and 7,4999 accordingly.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 was initially launched in India in March this year. The first flash sale took on March 24. It features 4.7-inch IPS display, 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB RAM. On-board storage is 8GB, further expandable and houses 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 2-megapixel front shooter. It is fueled by 2200mAh battery, runs Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6 on top and supports the usual connectivity suites (WiFi, Bluetooth and more). It comes in either Black or Grey exteriors.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 is available at the revised pricing of Rs. 5,999 on Mi.com, Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, The Mobile Store and Airtel Store starting today.
In related new, Xiaomi Redmi 2 also received a price cut in Singapore and is now available for $149. Xiaomi also announced a Enhanced version of Redmi 2 in Singapore that comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage over the 1GB/16GB of the standard model. It carries the price tag of Rs. $179.
