Android Marshmallow is now on 0.5 percent of devices, Lollipop reaches 29.5 percent


Google has released the monthly distribution data of different versions of Android for the month of December. As per the latest data, Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now running on 0.5 percent of Android devices, up by 0.2 percent as compared to last month (0.5 percent)

Lollipop is now present on 29.5 percent of Android devices up from 25.6 percent in November. an increase of 3.9 percent. Out of the 29.5 percent devices Android 5.0 Lollipop has a share of 16.3 percent and Android 5.1 has 13.2 percent.

The Android 4.4.x KitKat is going down steadily in the charts and now powers 36.6 percent devices compared to 37.8 percent last month, a decrease of 1.2 percent.

Android Jelly Bean (4.1/4.2/4.3) adoption has also reduced to 26.9 percent from 29 percent, falling 2.1 percent. Android Ice Cream Sanwich or 4.0.x has registered a share of 2.9 percent, down by 0.4 percent from November. Gingerbread and Froyo adoption rate remained unchanged from last month and stands at 3.4 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.

In the coming months adoption rate of Android 6.0 will see a gradual increase, as more devices will get the latest Android treat.
