LG G5 Lite w/ Snapdragon 652 SoC, 3GB RAM passes China's TENAA

LG is gearing up for the launch of a Lite version of its G5 flagship in Latin American markets. The handset with model number LG-H848 has been certified by TENAA in China, which means the handset is nearing launch.

LG has already confirmed that Latin America will get less powerful variant of the G5, that will be equipped with octa-core Snapdragon 652 SoC w/ Adreno 510 GPU and pack 3GB RAM, and TENAA confirms the same. However the handset will have a slightly lesser 2700mAh battery, as opposed to 2800mAh battery on the Snapdragon 820 SoC variant. Rest of the specs including display, camera and storage will stay the same.

The LG G5 Lite will have 5.3-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) always on display, 32GB inbuilt expandable storage, 16MP/8MP dual rear camera, 8MP front camera, Fingerprint scanner, NFC and USB Type-C. It runs the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The LG G5 Lite (not the final name) is expected to release in Brazil, Chile, Panama and Mexico, but there is not details on pricing yet. The Lite version will also lack support for the LG 360 VR, on of the components of G5 & Friends, due to low interest in VR technology in the region.

The LG G5 was launched at MWC 2016 and won accolades for its innovative modular design. The chin of the handset can be removed and swapped with modules like CAM PLUS w/ an additional battery capacity of 1200mAh, and Hi-Fi Plus, a portable audio player (B&O Play). The Snapdragon 820 SoC powered LG G5 will be available in the U.S on April 1, followed by Canada and UK on April 8. India will get the LG G5 sometime in Q2 2016.
