Razer Core Thunderbolt 3 graphics enclosure ships in April for $500


Razer at CES 2016 unveiled the Razer Core, a plug and play external graphics enclosure along with the ultrabook Blade Stealth. Now at GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2016, Razer has announced the full specifications, pricing and availability details of Razer Core.

The Razer Core is an external graphics enclosure that can be plugged with a compatible laptop to connect desktop-class graphic cards, turning it into a gaming rig, and utilize the increased graphical power, to experience far superior performance then that of notebook. Note that, it does not have a built-in graphics card.

The Razer Core supports a single double-wide, full-length, PCI-Express x16 graphics cards. It connects with the laptop via a single Thunderbolt 3/USB-C cable and also houses 4 x USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet.

Physical installation of a graphics card into the Raze core requires no tools. It has a durable aluminium housing that slides open, a using a single screw (included) secures the graphics card in place.


At launch the Razer Core Razer Blade Stealth and Razer Blade (w/ Thunderbolt 3) as part of beta program. Currently, it will support NVIDIAs GeForce GTX GPUs and AMD Radeon graphics cards.

Razer Core is priced $399 with the purchase of a compatible Razer notebook or $499 if purchased separately. It can be pre-ordered via Razerzone.com, and the shipping will start in April,
