Sony's ForwardWorks will bring PlayStation games to mobile devices

Last year Nintendo announced its plans to bring its games for mobile devices, and recently released the Miitomo mobile app for Android and iOS. Now Sony is following suit, as it has announced the formation of ForwardWorks, a studio which will focus on developing full fledged gaming titles for smartphones based on PlayStation games and characters.

Sony in a press release stated that ForwardWorks will leverage the intellectual property of numerous Play Station software titles and its gaming characters, as well as the knowledge and know-how acquired over the years with PlayStation business to offer mobile games to smartphones and tablets.

This will not be the first time we did see PlayStation games on mobile devices. In the past games like Runk Sackboy! Run!, a spin-off of popular PlayStation game LittleBighPlanet, knack's Quest and Rachet & Clank: Before the Nexus have been released for mobile devices. There are also companion apps for games like Beyond: Two Souls, SingStar and Until Dawn.

ForwardWorks will start its operation on April 1 and will be released in Asia and Japan regions only. Don't expect the games to hit India just yet, as for Sony, India falls under European territories.
