Chrome OS Dev 53 brings Android apps to Chromebooks

Google at its I/O event last month announced that Google Play Store and Android apps will arrive to Chromebooks starting mid-June.

Now as promised Google has pushed an update to Chrome OS (v 53) on developer channel that brings support for Android Apps and Play Store. Currently Chrome OS 53 is live for Asus Chromebook Flip, and once you get the latest Chome OS version, you'll be able to install and use you favorite Android apps.

Chrome OS 53 is also available for the Chromebook Pixel (2015), but Play Store is not yet available. We can expect the developer build of Chrome OS to bring Play Store to Pixel 2015 and Acer Chromebook R11 soon. Older Chromebooks will get Play Store and Android apps support later this year. Google will also be working with several partners to launch new devices designed for Play as well.
