Evan Blass: Samsung Galaxy Note7 name confirmed, iris scanner confirmed

A couple of weeks back rumor surfaced that Samsung will be skipping the Galaxy Note 6 branding in favor of Galaxy Note 7. Now backing earlier claims, Evan Blass (@evleaks) has confirmed the name change. He shared an image that shows the Galaxy Note7 marketing name, followed by the tweet "confirmed".

The image might be fabricated or photo-shopped, but Since Evan Blass has always been right in the past with his leaks (except for one or two), there is no reason to doubt this one. However, until the word comes out officially from Samsung, it is advised to take caution on rumors.

There can be many reason, why Samsung opted for Galaxy Note7 name. One of them is to bring the phablet in line with the current Galaxy S7 line up, in terms of branding. Samsung is doing so to eliminate inconsistencies when it comes to branding its product.

In addition, Blass also confirmed that Galaxy Note7 will pack iris scanner, which was already being rumored earlier.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will reportedly carry the model number SMN-930F and is rumored to come with 5.8-inch QHD dual-edge Super AMOLED display, Exynos 8 SoC, 6GB RAM, 12MP camera w/ dual-pixel PDAF (same as Galaxy S7,S7 edge), 4000mAh battery, IP68 rating, microSD card slot and a USB Type-C port. Although not confirmed, the Galaxy Note7 is rumored to be unveiled on August 2.
