15.2 percent Android devices are now running Marshmallow

Google's Android 7.0 Nougat is expected to roll out this month, however Android Marshallow's adoption rate continues to grow slowly. Marshmallow made its debut in the distribution chart in November 2015 with a share of mere 0.3 percent and took eight months to pass 10 percent and it just took another two months to cross 15 percent.

As per the latest Android distribution figures Android Marshmallow is now running on 15.2 percent of active devices, up 1.9 percent, compared to 13.3 percent in July.

Android Lollipop adoption slightly increased by 0.4 percent to 35.5 percent, compared to 35.1 percent last month. KitKat continues to fall and stands at 29.2 percent down from 30.1 percent.

As usual older Android operating system adoption declined as well. Jelly Bean now runs on 16.7 percent devices (down 1.1 percent), Android Ice Cream Sandwhich was 1.6 percent (down 0.1 percent) and Gingerbread was at 1.7 percent (down 0.2 percent). Android Froyo still lays flat on 0.1 percent.

Note that these figures were compiled from Android devices that accessed Play Store in a seven-day period ending August 1.
