Microsoft unveils Surface Studio, its first All-in-One PC


Microsoft at it Windows 10 event in New York City added a new member to its Surface line-up in the form of an All-in-One PC called Surface Studio. Microsoft says the AIO PC is a high-performance PC designed for creators and is the "world's thinnest LCD monitor ever built" at 12.5mm.

Microsoft Studio has a 28-inch 4.5K Ultra HD PixelSense touchscreen display, which can deliver 63 percent more pixels than 4K TV. Microsoft says the screen is 'True Scale' which means 1-inch on the screen is the same as 1-inch in real life.

It also has a hinge to allow users easily switch Desktop mode to Studio mode, which lets you position the PC flat up to 20 degrees for writing, drawing, doodling or more with the Surface Pen.

The Surface Studio features sixt gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, up to 32GB RAM, up to 2TB rapid hybrid drive and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M (2GB)/GTX 980M (4G) graphics. It includes 4 x USB 3.0 ports, Mini DisplayPort, 3.5mm headphone jack, SD card reader, Ethernet, WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0.

Other features include mic for use with Cortana voice assistant, Windows Hello ready camera and support for Xbox wireless controller. It comes bundled with a Surface Pen, Surface Keyboard and Surface Mouse.


Microsoft also introduced Surface Dial, an input device designed for creative process, allowing users to scroll, zoom and navigate. It also includes app-specific tools that allow you to quickly access shortcuts as well. The dial can be placed next to the PC or on the screen to trigger menu and other actions. The device also works with Surface Book, Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4.

The Microsoft Surface Studio comes in three configurations:
Core i5/ 8GB RAM/ 1TB storage/ GTX 965M graphics – $2999 (Rs. 2,00,000)
Core i7/ 16GB RAM/ 1TB storage/ GTX 965M graphics – $3,499 (Rs. 2,34,000)
Core i7/ 32GB RAM/ 2TB storage/ GTX 980M graphics – $4,199 (Rs. 2,81,000)

The Surface Studio is now available for pre-order in the U.S from Microsoft stores, Microsoft.com and BestBuy.com, and shipping begins from mid-December in limited quantities, followed by broader availability in early 2017.
