The Xiaomi Mi MIX is all about the edge-to-edge display

Alongside the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi surprised everyone by announcing a new concept smartphone with a futuristic edgeless design called Mi MIX. That's not all, Xiaomi is also making the Mi MIX available for purchase in home market of China next month as well.

The Mi MIX has a unique design. Unlike most smartphones today, the MIX features almost no bezel. It has a huge 6.4-inch screen with 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio and an all-ceramic body.

Since it doesn't have room on the front to house earpiece, camera and proximity sensor, instead uses ultra-sonic technology for proximity sensors, ceramic acoustic system for the earpiece and the camera is located at the bottom right corner, which is 50 percent smaller than regular camera sensor.

Xiaomi says that the Mi MIX was designed in partnership with popular French designer Philippe Starck.

When it comes to specifications, the Mi Mix features Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 128GB/256GB storage, 4400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and PDAF and 5MP front camera.

It runs Android Marshmallow based MIUI and supports dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac, USB Type-C and NFC. There's also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner at the back.
