HP reportedly working on customer-focused Windows phone

HP unveiled the Windows 10 Mobile based Elite X3 smartphone at MWC 2016 in February. The phone was a powerhouse aimed at enterprise customers featuring 5.96-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB RAM,. It also supported Windows 10 Continuum feature and security features like fingerprint scanner and iris scanner. However, the phone failed to make any impression, given its higher price.

Now it appears that HP is planning to launch another Windows phone in 2017. The company will reportedly team up with Microsoft to release a customer-focused Windows Phone, that is likely to launch in February 2017. The phone will be budget-oriented catering needs of customers looking for an affordable Windows phone.

According to the report, HP will mancufacture and sell the smartphone, while Microsoft will help with finance. Further more HP's Windows phone will come with features that were exclusive to Microsoft's Lumia line-up like Glance, ClearBlack display, double tap to wake and advanced camera functionality.

The report further mentions that Microsoft has already demoed (internally) HP's upcoming Windows Phone at an event in Redmond, for deployment in February 2017. February is the month, when MWC 2017 will be held, so we expected HP's phone to be introduced at the event.
