Nexus 6 finally gets Android Nougat 7.1.1
You may remember that we discussed Nexus 6 in some of our previous posts and not only that but we expect you to remember about the last month when Google finally released the Android Nougat 7.1.1 for Pixel and Nexus devices but as you know, Nexus 6 was left out for time being due to some complications.
As we said in our previous posts, the Nexus 6 was left out due to a last minute bug before releasing. It was eventually fixed and Google promised that the Nexus 6's first taste of Android 7.1.1 would become available in early January.
And now, we are here in January and have already the update in line. However, if you really can't wait, and don't mind using the command line from time to time, you can get a factory image or OTA zip file from Google's developer site and flash either to your Nexus 6 to make it run the absolute latest iteration of Android.
Get the factory image from HERE.
Get the OTA zip file from HERE.
Talking about the patches, we want to tell you that January security patches are included too, and hopefully the over-the-air rollout will start soon. Unfortunately though, it may be some time before every Nexus 6 still out there gets the update notification, seeing as how there still are devices in the are stuck on the October or November security patch level, having received no subsequent updates to this point.
